What Our Client's Say

How to pick the best supplement plan for you

How a Medicare Supplement Plan Works

A Medicare Supplement plan (also called Medigap) works alongside Original Medicare to help cover costs that Medicare doesn’t pay, such as deductibles, copays, and coinsurance.

With a Medicare Supplement plan:

  • You can see any doctor or hospital nationwide that accepts Medicare—no networks required

  • Referrals are not needed to see specialists

  • Most out-of-pocket medical costs are covered, helping reduce unexpected bills

  • Coverage stays the same wherever you live or travel in the U.S.

Medicare Supplement plans do not include prescription drug coverage, so a separate Part D Prescription Drug Plan is added to complete your coverage.

At Turning 65 Advisor, we help you enroll in Medicare, explain your supplement plan options, and review your coverage each year to ensure it continues to meet your needs.

What to Consider When Choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan

What to Consider When Choosing a Medicare Advantage Plan

Before enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan, it’s important to be sure it fits your healthcare needs.

Key things to review include:

  • Doctor & hospital networks

  • Prescription drug coverage

  • Out-of-pocket costs and annual maximums

  • Referral and prior authorization requirements

  • Extra benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing

  • Service area and travel coverage

Medicare Advantage plans can change each year. At Turning 65 Advisor, we review your plan annually during Open Enrollment to confirm it continues to be the best option for you.

Understanding Your Medicare Options

When you enroll in Medicare, one of the biggest decisions you’ll make is choosing between a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) plan and a Medicare Advantage plan. We explain the differences in detail so you know exactly what you’re choosing.

Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plans

A Medicare Supplement works alongside Original Medicare (Parts A & B).

How it works:

  • You keep Original Medicare as your primary coverage

  • The Supplement plan helps pay deductibles, copays, and coinsurance

  • You can see any doctor in the U.S. that accepts Medicare

  • No network restrictions

  • No referrals required

Good fit for people who:

  • Want maximum flexibility with doctors

  • Travel frequently

  • Prefer predictable medical costs

  • Don’t want network limitations

You will also enroll in a separate Prescription Drug Plan (Part D).

Medicare Advantage (Part C) Plans

A Medicare Advantage plan replaces Original Medicare and is offered through private insurance companies.

How it works:

  • Combines hospital and medical coverage in one plan

  • Often includes prescription drug coverage

  • May include extra benefits like dental, vision, hearing, and gym memberships

  • Typically uses provider networks (HMO or PPO)

  • Copays apply as you use services

Good fit for people who:

  • Prefer lower monthly premiums

  • Are comfortable using a provider network

  • Want bundled coverage in one plan

  • Like extra benefits included

We Break It Down Simply

We don’t just explain the basics — we review:

  • Monthly premiums

  • Maximum out-of-pocket costs

  • Provider networks

  • Prescription drug coverage

  • Long-term cost differences

  • How plans can change year to year

Our goal is to help you understand not only how each plan works today — but how it may affect you in the future.
