How we can help you when entering Medicare

How We Help You Get Medicare Set Up

We don’t just help you choose a plan—we guide you through the entire Medicare process from start to finish.

1. Help Signing Up for Medicare

  • We help you enroll in Medicare Parts A and B when the time is right.

  • We make sure everything is set up correctly and on time to avoid penalties or coverage gaps.

2. Employer Coverage Review

  • If you are still working and covered under an employer plan with 20 or more employees, and that coverage is working well for you, you may be able to delay enrolling in Medicare.

  • We will compare your current work coverage with Medicare to help you decide which option makes the most sense for your situation.

3. IRMAA Review

  • We check to see if you will owe an IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount).

If your income is over $109,000 as an individual or $218,000 filing jointly, you may owe an IRMAA (Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amount) in addition to your standard Part B premium.

  • If IRMAA applies, we review your situation to see if there may be a way to lower or remove it, such as qualifying life-changing events.

4. Medicare Easy Pay Setup

  • We help you set up Medicare Easy Pay, so your Medicare premiums are automatically deducted.

  • This helps prevent missed payments and keeps your coverage running smoothly.

Our Goal
Our goal is to make Medicare simple, stress-free, and easy to understand, so you feel confident knowing everything is set up correctly from the beginning.

Which option is best for you?

During our first meeting—what we call a Discovery Meeting—we take the time to understand your health needs so we can help determine which Medicare path is the best fit for you.

If a Medicare Supplement plan appears to be the right option, we confirm that your doctors accept Medicare and review stand-alone prescription drug plans to ensure your medications are covered.

If a Medicare Advantage plan is a better fit, we verify that your doctors are in-network and help identify the plan that offers the best coverage for your prescriptions.

In both cases, we clearly outline what your monthly costs will look like for each option, so you can confidently compare your choices and make an informed decision.

What to Know When Entering a Medicare Supplement (Medigap) Plan

1. Best Time to Enroll Matters
Your Medicare Supplement Open Enrollment Period starts when you are 65 or older and enrolled in Medicare Part B.

  • This 6-month window is important because you cannot be denied coverage or charged more due to health conditions.

  • After this period, medical underwriting may apply.

2. Supplements Work With Original Medicare
Medicare Supplement plans help cover the out-of-pocket costs left by Original Medicare, such as:

  • Deductibles

  • Copays

  • Coinsurance

You keep Original Medicare as your primary insurance, and the supplement pays after Medicare.

3. Freedom to Choose Doctors

  • You can see any doctor or hospital nationwide that accepts Medicare.

  • No networks and no referrals needed.

4. Prescription Drugs Are Separate
Medicare Supplement plans do not include prescription drug coverage.

  • You will need to enroll in a stand-alone Part D prescription drug plan.

5. Plans Are Standardized

  • Plan benefits are the same regardless of the insurance company (Plan G is Plan G everywhere).

  • The difference is price, customer service, and company stability.

6. Monthly Premiums vs. Out-of-Pocket Costs

  • Supplements typically have higher monthly premiums than Medicare Advantage plans.

  • In return, you get lower out-of-pocket costs when you use your insurance.

7. Travel Coverage
Many Medicare Supplement plans include limited foreign travel emergency coverage, which is helpful for frequent travelers.

8. You Can Change Plans—But Timing Matters

  • You can switch Medicare Supplement plans later, but medical underwriting may apply unless you are in a protected enrollment period.

  • This is why choosing the right plan from the start is important.

9. No Annual Plan Changes Required
Unlike Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Supplement plans do not change every year.

  • As long as you pay your premium, your coverage stays the same.

What We Review When Looking at a Medicare Advantage Plan

When helping you choose a Medicare Advantage plan, we take a close look at the details that matter most to you, including:

1. Your Doctors & Hospitals

  • We confirm your primary care doctors, specialists, and hospitals are in the plan’s network.

  • This helps avoid surprises and keeps your care uninterrupted.

2. Prescription Drug Coverage

  • We review your current medications to make sure they are covered by the plan.

  • We compare copays, formularies, and pharmacy options to find the best fit.

3. Monthly Premium & Out-of-Pocket Costs

  • We explain the monthly premium, copays, coinsurance, and the maximum out-of-pocket limit.

  • This helps you understand both your monthly cost and potential costs during the year.

4. Extra Benefits
Many Medicare Advantage plans include added benefits, such as:

  • Dental, vision, and hearing

  • Fitness programs

  • Over-the-counter allowances
We help you understand which benefits you’ll actually use.

5. Plan Type & Referrals

  • We explain whether the plan is an HMO or PPO and how referrals work.

  • This helps you know how flexible the plan will be for your healthcare needs.

6. Travel & Out-of-Area Coverage

  • We review how the plan works if you travel or live part of the year in another state.

7. Annual Plan Changes

  • Medicare Advantage plans can change every year.

  • We review your plan annually to make sure it’s still meeting your needs and help you switch if necessary.

Our Goal
Our goal is to help you understand your options clearly so you can choose a plan that fits your health needs, doctors, and budget—not just today, but throughout the year.
